Sponsorship | ₩1,000,000 The ₩1,000,000 donation from Deokpo Sewing Machine Trading Co. was common&good’s first experience of securing funding through a formal corporate process. It began with an initial approach and online meeting, followed by a visit to the company’s main office in Deokpo, where I presented common&good’s work and explained why I believed it was worth supporting. We then discussed where the company’s values and objectives aligned with ours before moving towards a formal donation agreement and, finally, the transfer of the funds. Even more encouragingly, the company promised to contribute another ₩1,000,000 in six months, with the intention that the funding would be used towards a meaningful cause. Going through each stage taught me how different corporate funding was from the more personal fundraising I had done before. I had to explain common&good clearly to people encountering it for the first time, justify where the funding would go, and demonstrate why our work was something the company could genuinely stand behind. Securing the initial ₩1,000,000 therefore felt significant beyond the amount itself. It was the first time a company had gone through this process, listened to our case, and ultimately decided to back what we were building. The promise of a second donation made the experience even more meaningful. It suggested that the company's support was not simply a one-time gesture, but an expression of confidence in what common&good might accomplish in the months ahead. At the same time, it made me conscious of the responsibility that comes with receiving such trust. I wanted to ensure that the funding would translate into something tangible and worthwhile, not merely become another figure in our fundraising records. I am incredibly grateful to Deokpo Sewing Machine Trading Co. for both its generosity and its willingness to support our work beyond this initial contribution. More than anything, the experience reminded me that a successful partnership is not measured only by the resources it provides, but by what both parties are willing to make possible through them.
