Strangely enough, saying goodbye was harder than I had expected, especially considering how often I had dreaded going to work. There were so many mornings when I wished I could stay in bed a little longer, when the thought of standing for hours, restocking shelves, and answering the same questions over and over again felt exhausting before the day had even begun. Some days, I counted the hours until my shift ended. Yet when my last day finally arrived, I found myself wishing it hadn't come quite so soon. I think I had grown attached to the very routine I used to complain about. The familiar faces of my coworkers, the small conversations between shifts, even the repetitive tasks that once seemed endless had gradually become part of my everyday life. I had spent so much time looking forward to finishing work that I hadn't noticed how much I would miss it. Receiving my final wage of ₩1,074,530 felt different from receiving my earlier paychecks. I knew exactly how much time and effort had gone into earning it. Every won represented hours I had spent on my feet, mornings I hadn't wanted to get up, and days when I had shown up anyway. I don't think I ever reached a point where I genuinely looked forward to every shift. But perhaps that was part of what made the experience meaningful. I had learned that something could be difficult, tiring, and occasionally frustrating, yet still become something I was grateful to have experienced.
